All our tours depart from and return to Melbourne CBD. However we also have the flexibility to pick up & drop off to other locations on request. Pick up times are 7am (day tours) and 10am (multi-day tours) from any Melbourne CBD location or hotel. Drop of times can vary from 4pm - 7pm depending on your tour choice, traffic and weather conditions. Pick up and drop off timings and locations can be changed to suit your travel plans, but must requested in advance to check their feasibility.

Is Accommodation and meals included in the price?

No. The price is for tour only. We can offer recommendations of where to eat along the way in each town we pass through. We can also offer recommendations of where to stay based on your preferred level and type of accommodation. For each overnight option, we will put forward 3 options of accommodation - budget, mid-range or luxury. It is recommended this is pre-booked prior to the tour as accommodation availability can be difficult over certain dates.

Which tour should i choose?

This depends on quite a few factors. Our most popular tour is the '2 day / 1 night Highlights tour' option, which as the name suggests, really showcases the main highlights of the Great Ocean Road. Meanwhile if you really want to experience a wider range of scenery from secluded beaches to The Grampians area, as well as more wildlife spotting opportunities, then the 'GOR & Grampians 3 Day / 2 Night Tour' might be the one for you! If you are unsure, simply send us an email and we can help advise you. If you want to mix and match experiences or custom-make your own tour, simply let us know, and we can quote you accordingly. As this is a totally private tour, the choice and freedom is all yours!

How many extra guests can be added?

Due to capacity limits, the maximum number of guests we can carry is 5. Please also note, that for our legal requirements  the age limit for on-board guests on our tours is strictly 12+ years of age or above. No pets are permitted.

How can we make a booking?

Please visit the 'contact us' page, enter your information and we will reply with the tour options, costings, deposit and payment details. Or, if you prefer you may email us directly info@greatoceanroadexplorer.com.au

We require a 25% deposit to secure your booking. We have a 14 day cancellation policy (less a non-refundable $45 booking fee).  You pay either via Pay Pal (our suggested method) or Credit Card. The final 75% payment is required in cash or card on the tour (at the start or at our mid-way point). Please note we do not accept Amex cards.

Where do our tours start / finish?

The Great Ocean Road and surrounding areas are well know for having '4 seasons in 1 day'!! You should prepare for all weather eventualities. Good walking shoes, warm coat and waterproof top are recommended.

Pick-up locations?

The majority of pick up and drop offs are Melbourne CBD. We can pick up directly from your hotel or accommodation provider. Other pick up locations include Geelong, Melbourne International Airport or Avalon airport. We can also pick up from major train stations en-route to the Great Ocean Road, or even the Great Ocean Road itself.

Will we see any wildlife?

Yes! Having lived in the area for many years, we know the best spots for various different types of native Australian wildlife. Just have your camera or phone at the ready (and make sure you charge it the night before!). 

What if i need to cancel?

We understand that life that doesn't always work out the way we plan and that from time to time cancellations are necessary. We have a set non-refundable administration fee of $45. If you need to cancel with more than 14 days prior to your tour date, we will refund your full deposit amount (less the $45 admin fee). If you cancel with less than 14 days to your tour date, you will forefit your deposit amount. As a rule of thumb, we always recommend that all guests take out their own personal travel insurance to cover themselves for any unforeseen circumstances whilst on vacation (flight delay, illness etc).

What physical activity is required?

This is totally dependant on you. As this is a private tour, you can decide how much (or little) excercise you want to incorporate into your day. The tour which involves the least amount of physical activity is the 'Highlights Tour'. If you do have any mobility issues, please let us know in advance so we can custom a tour more suited to your needs.

Our vehicles all have in-car Wifi, bottled water is always to hand, and all our 'Driver Guides' are fully experienced with the appropriate driver accreditation as required by the Australian Government.

How do we arrange final payment?

The final balance of payment (75%) will be taken on the morning of the tour when you are picked up by your tour guide, or if you prefer at the mid-way point. Final payment is by cash only. If you wish to make an advance payment in full, prior to your tour, this can be done by either bank transfer or pay pal.
